What are you doing today?

I am headed to Hurd Mercantile today in Rockford, Wa!  A little girls day out with my mom.  Hurd's is having their annual Spring Open House today from 10-5.  If you have never been to Hurd's before you need to take a little drive up to Rockford and check it out!  They have a bit of everything from home decor, furniture, kitchen supplies, kids treasures and a wine section.  Always a fun trip!!

Road Trip

My mom and I just recently returned home from our trip to Utah with my three kids to visit some very good friends.  It was about 12 hours one way and the kids did great!!  Thank heavens for DVD players!  My kids are also use to being in the truck for long periods at a time, so it wasn't very new to them!  We stopped a few times along the way and I was able to find a few treasures.  Would have brought home more, but my mom kept reminding me that we did not have much room!

We had such a great time visiting with friends!  Our friend Kelly has 3 young boys and my kids loved playing with them!

While we were in Utah, one of the top priorities was visiting the dinosaur museum!  Trent was so excited he could hardly wait!  Jim and Sarah and their families joined us and the kids had a great time!

I was able to get Trent to stand still for a couple pictures!  Here he is standing next to the leg of a "long neck" a.k.a Brachiosaurus.  This kid knows all their names!!

After seeing a movie about Sue, the T-Rex, the kids dug for fossils.  I think they would have stayed their all day if we would have let them!

And now we are home and missing our friends!  Thank you so much Kelly and family for opening up your home to us!  My kids are still talking about the "theatre room" and the mini basketball court!  Jim, Sarah and Steve thank you so much for taking time off work and traveling so far to come see us and letting the kids play - we had so much fun!  It was great to see you!

Rustic/Vintage/Antique Treasure!

Here it is!  My latest treasure!  I have been looking for a hoosier/dough table for the last few years, but just couldn't find the perfect one (without spending a fortune anyway)!  Sorry, but this item will not be seen at any of The Rustic Star sales:/  This one is for me!!  It needs a little work and I need to decide what color I want it before I bring it into my home.  And, I also need to find a spot for it!  I bought this piece from the very sweet and talented Rolane Hopper from The Vintage Barn.  Just one of those late evening, snowy road trips up to Rathdrum, Idaho!!

I can't wait!!

The Rustic Star

My sister-in-law and I started our little business last year with a couple small sales at our homes.  We sell rustic, shabby chic, vintage, country furniture-home decor-antiques.  We make a lot of our own things and also add our touches to furniture we are able to find. My husband can't believe some of the places I will venture into to find that perfect treasure!   I have been dreaming of this business for a few years now and it is finally starting to happen.  Lots and lots of work though, but I love it!!  My family and close friends have helped me a lot and been extremely supportive.  I couldn't do it without them!
